"Curious Obsessions" is a lesbian porn feature released by Seduction Cinema. It is "unrated" in the USA, but was labelled as "adults only" in Europe. It is racked in the porn section in NL. The DVD is REGION-1 NTSC. John Bacchus diretced the movie. His porn-spinoff of "Planet of the Apes" may be better known : "Play-mate of the Apes".

Bethany Lott and Jackie Stevens play a hot lesbian couple. Bethany Lott is already known for her leading role in "SpiderBabe", Jackie Stevens saved the average minus porn movie "Lust in Space". Both arent the typical porn actresses, they are more decent beauties, who arouse the viewer with her charm and erotic acting. This movie was planned as a silent movie, and it nearly is a silent movie now. There are only half a dozen of dialogues.

Bethany and Jackie are roommates. They rented an apartment together to save rent, not because they had a lovely relationship. Suddenly the express delivery has brought a parcel. They dont expected a parcel, but open it and find an 8-mm projector. Its not very easy to find out, how to insert the movie reel and start this film projector. The 8mm projector is haunted, it turns on at will and projects non-stop footage of stag loops from the 60s and the 70s. Both women never have seen this and are shocked. "Porn", but it isnt possible to turn it off. The projector has magic powers and both not only see the stag movies on the wall, but a reflection of their surpressed desires. Both wanted to have sex with each other, but never dared to ask. They become sexually possessed by the images, they lick, fuck, kiss, just enjoy themselves. After her first sex scene, they pause, it is really ok to do this ? But the constant hypnotic images, the endless loops, the music in their heads, is answer enough. There is no dialogue. It is nothing wrong, but it was wrong to surpress these feelings so long. They succumb body and soul to uninhibited lesbian seduction. They cant stop. Will there be an end, or has this devilish projector found two more victims, that are imprisoned in an eternal loop of ecstasy ? You have to watch the movie to find out the answer - if there is any.....
Movie is filmed with low defn.digital (Hi8?), 8loops were digitally enhanced, so there isnt a great contrast between NOW and THEN. Its a mixture between a silent movie and a music video. Strange and wild rock music merges with the pictures. Various color filters are used, almost lynchean dream scenes, even if the special FX are very simple.
Fading is often and cleverly used here.

Theres a "Behind the scenes" extra, also an interview with Michael Raso, the producer. Deleted scenes. Also many trailers out of Seduction Cinemas Vault. Its one of the best lesbian movies I have ever seen. Its very unusual, sadly it wasnt a great success in the USA, but sold well in Japan and some european countries. I can only recommend it, if you want to see something different. The first scenes reminded me a little of "New Wave Hookers", instead of an old vcr (beta?), here it is an 8mm projector. Was funny to watch the two young women, how they discovered the 8mm format, and the trouble they had inserting the first movie reel.

Two negative points I have to mention too:
On the backcover text, they call the 8mm projector, "16mm". In the movie, one actress says: "Please give me the tapes", instead of using the correct term "reels".
