"Girls get busy" - Abby Winters DVD

This was one of the first Abby Winters DVDs released simultanously in Europe and the USA ( 2006 ). Abby Winters was already known for high quality and authentic lesbian amateur porn, but she was famous for her website.

This DVD offers 2 episodes with Matilda. Matilda has dark read hairs. Her first partner is Armine, she has lighter red hairs, that have a brown touch.

In episode 2, Matilda has sex with Fuji, a japanese women living in Australia.
The DVD runs nearly 100 minutes in NTSC.

The title of this Abby Winters movie is a little bit contradictious. "Girls get busy", because the sex is very slow, passionate and caring, as usual seen in Abby Winters movies. There isnt much content to describe: Both girls undress slowly, kiss, touch, kiss, lick, kiss, fuck, kiss. You can enjoy real sex and real orgasms. Abby or her assistant directors dont direct in a classical sense, they only are videographers of the sex the girls/women have. They dont have sex for the camera, but only sex before a camera. Most of the amateur models have sex with their real-life partners or girlfriends. Abby had only directed very few boy/girl scenes, because she thinks, that it is easier to direct g/g scenes and that the feelings are more intense and more passionate.
Picture quality is good, but not high defn., because this would diminish the "amateur" feeling. No amateur is filming with a video camera that costs a small fortune, or ?

When Abby Winters started to market her DVDs in Europe, in 2005, dealers and distributors were VERY sceptical. Why ? Her advanced -solicited covers had no hardcore scenes. This is standard in Japan, also quite a lot of US porn covers have no explicit scene, but it isnt common in Europe. 99,9 % of european porn movies have a hardcore cover. The few movies that hadnt one, flopped totally. Second, prices were high for DVDs ranging between 70min - under 2 hours. Bonus material was thin or almost nonexisting. No b/g action, but only lesbian. Nobody thought, that this would be a success, but the next failed attempt to draw more women into porn.

Now only 3 years later, it didnt failed, but is a great success. Abby Winters is even promoted and distributed by WICKED in the USA. How is this possible ?

The answer is simple. These movies arent big sellers among male customers. Most of the male customers, who were anxious to watch one Abby movie, because they read the raving reviews in the net, were astonished. This astonishment ranges from " oh, finally real sex, but there isnt enough action " to " very boring ". Of course, some men enjoy these movies too. But if I look at the fanbase here, most of the customers are young women. Most of them never rented porn before, some even are ( or were ) strictly anti-porn. A few of them try different labels ( VAH, softer lesbian titles from lezlove or pureplay, Heartcore ), but most only look for Abbys latest titles and dont rent other porn movies. So this is Abbys greatest achievement, in my opinion, she was able to draw more young women into porn/videoshops, who werent interested in porn before. Also men who quitted renting porn years ago, because they were appalled by the faked orgasm and the synthetic sex. Porn lost quite a lot of male customers too here, since the advancement of the US porn beginning in 2000.

I also enjoy many of Abby Winters movies, especially the DVDs with the readheads. If I would stop my review here, I would rate Abby Winters concept 10 out of 10. But I also have to criticize many points. I dont want to be unfair, its great, that Abby works with true amateurs and everbody has a different taste. But most of the models dont arouse me at all. Some are too skinny, arent big fans of make-up, dont wear sexy dresses or high heels. Maybe I dont like the general look of the australian girls so much, I am not a big fan of the artificial look many US porn girls have too. I prefer the natural northern european beauties, who use make-up and wear sexy dresses, not because they change their look for a porn movie, but because this is their everyday look. Most of the australian girls are too shy, they act very reclusive, talk with a very low voice.....reminds me of british girls of the 80s. If this is their style, its ok, Abby shouldnt change it. But I prefer the wild and crazy dutch and danish girls, who are sexually dominant, self-confident and have a big selfconfidence, without being arrogant. They love to kiss too, are very caring, but have much harder sex in porn, because they enjoy this sex in private too. It seems to be a clash of cultures. I think I would had the same problems, if I were a porn director in Switzerland. Its a different culture I cant get accustomed to.

And here goes my strongest critic against Abby. If I read her statements on her site, she writes, that she was very unsatisfied with generic porn, that is made to please men only. I can only support this. But she is also saying, that she didnt found movies with real orgasm, real lust, porn that was fun, not only for the viewer, but for the actressess too. Porn that interested more female viewers. Here I have to totally disagree, because the Video Art Holland movies of the 80s and 90s ( even some of today ) prove exactly the opposite. I think you have to make a few compromisses in porn. VAH did this, Abby doesnt want to do this. If I look at her DVDs, one for one, they are very nice, but I am really missing variety. I know, that Australia is much more conservative as northern Europe, but the standard 1:1 g/g sex in bed can be very boring in the long run. If this is exactly what australian girls want, its fine. But I want much more. And as much as I love to view real orgasm and kissing, I dont think, that I will be so enthusiastic as I was, when the first Abby DVDs were released, if the 100th DVD will also present 1:1 moderate g/g sex. To be fair, she also has some golden shower scenes, ( not on this DVD ) but only single scenes. Because australian porn laws are even stricter than in the USA, real wet interacting isnt possible. I doubt, that some models dont enjoy this in private, it isnt a big step from watching your partner pee to interacting, so therefore her movies arent representing 100% authentic sex. ( But thats a legal problem Abby cant solve ) I dont want to sound too negative. I love the concept and strongly support it. But I fear, that it will be in a cul-de-sac in the not so distant future, if it will not be expanded a little more. In general, we should be thankfull for Abby Winters and her excellent movies. I had never thought before, that even in the country of the "PorNO" campaigns, Germany, finally some women try to look out for porn movies. So I am glad, that Abby Winters and feminist porn directors like Erika Lust are able to reach new customers. And as a liberal feminist, I am happy for every women, changing the porn industry for the better. What I dont like are some of her statements, that there was NO porn at all, before they went into business, that was enjoyed by women. This isnt true, especially if you look at the Netherlands and to a lesser extent to Denmark. Is this only marketing talk or just ignorance ? At least, "our" movies were able to interest men AND women. I dont want to divide porn costumers into "men" = "idiotic stuff, faked orgasm, fantasy" vs."women" = "intelligent, caring, real, loving stuff". So I have mixed feelings about the rise of feminist/female porn. But if you want to make a picture of your own, try to watch this Abby Winters movie...get busy !

I purchased an Abby Winters DVD and was quite disappointed. "Girls on Film" if I remember correctly. I had D/L a free trailer from her website and thought the girls were great. When I saw an original DVD, I pulled out the cash. Unfortunately, the DVD was technically inferior to the trailer I had downloaded. Resolution, etc. The DVD was like a cheapo 4 hour compilation from the flea market. That won't happen again.

Abby Winters said in an interview, that she isnt using the highest-Def. cams, because she wants to keep the "amateur" feeling. This makes sense, no amateur couple has a camera that has a higher price tag as their car.

I have the "Girls on film" DVD too, the girls are too skinny and the sex is a little tame, but I wouldnt say, that this was technically inferior.
I like the Abby Winters concept, but not all of the results.

Partly australian "porn" laws are responsible for this, partly not. But I have to accept, that women rent and enjoy these movies, who never before rented porn. I doubt, that I will rent many of Abby Winters movies in the future.
