DVD SPECIFIC COMMENTS

The technical qualities of this DVD seemed quite high.  The was a pleasant surprise given the low price of the disc.  The picture was very clear, in sharp focus, and well lit.  A substantial improvement over the VHS version.   On the main menu, the viewer can select any of the six scenes on the disc.   There was stereo sound, music, and good sound definition during the sex scenes.  A "Dark Room" is included --  twenty still photos from the movie and box cover.  I always wonder why producers do not include more stills.  Why not include 100?  There are some extras included on the flip side of the DVD, but nothing related to this feature.  It appears to be mostly previews and other promotional material from Raw & Vivid.  I encountered some brief but distracting pixelization  or blocking problems on some of the scenes (maybe 5-6 times total) on my DVD player.  The box is very misleading when it states that the running time is "4 hours - 240 minutes."  Watcher 3 runs just a hair over ninety minutes.  

CONCLUSION

"The Watcher #03" has its moments, but it suffers from being somewhat repetitious and unimaginative. "The Watcher" seems to stumble upon the same sexual situations over and over.  Also, none of the scenes stink, but after careful consideration, I think "Firepole" is an underachiever here.  The film should have been hotter.  The girls are attractive, they are wearing sexy outfits, and the camerawork, lighting and sound are all very good, yet there is a certain intensity that is lacking.  One could argue that this is intentional; that Firepole wanted to create a detached feeling to whole thing since that fits in with the theme of a "Watcher".  I don't buy it.  I come away thinking that if John Leslie directed this same movie, the heat would be turned up a notch or two.  

A few more points.   I liked the roaming camera work, but I think some interesting footage was too rushed. And damm it, if there are two girls in the scene, I don't want the participation of one of them to be limited to rubbing someone's back or even worse, sitting on the couch watching the action from afar!  Finally, I am concerned about the lack of truthfulness in advertising with this title.  The box to this DVD says it is an "All Anal" feature twice (once on the front and once on the back).  To me, this means every girl should take it up the ass.  By my count three of the girls did not perform anal in this feature.  It is very uncool to mislead the consumer like this.

The scenes with Envy and Jade Marcela are the best of the bunch.  

Last but not least, it is worth mentioning that Vivid RAW DVD are often available at very attractive prices.  A quick price search at the time this review was written reveals it can be obtained at three different online stores for under $10.  No one was selling it for more than $20.  As a result, the bang for the buck ratio of Watcher 3 is quite high, especially at the lower price points.
