REVIEW

Shocking Truth 2 is the best of Greg Dark's memorable trilogy from the mid to late 90's.  

The format of series is for Gregory Dark to ask the girls very personal questions before sex scene. The questions are not fluff.  The questions are psychological in nature, and seem focused on probing the girls' feelings about themselves in light of the very nasty acts that they perform.  It appears to me that the girls were required to answer the questions seriously and truthfully.  What's more, they clearly do not know what Greg is going to ask them in advance so the starlets give spontaneous and often surprising answers.  Sometimes, ever after much effort, the girls are at a loss to come up with an answer.   Then, after the scene, with cum dripping from their faces, Greg's voice returns to ask the porn stars one or two final zingers.  Other than a few super quick close ups of his eyes, you never see the interviewer.  Rather, the camera stays focused on the girls, and Greg doesn't hesitate to zoom in on their face or hands as if to search for body language cues that will give away if the girls are lying or uncomfortable.  

It wouldn't be a Greg Dark movie if there weren't any bizarre elements in the feature.  In this film, after each interview, Star Chandler appears in a non sex role.  She is nude but her body is painted red except for her blond hair.  Perhaps she is meant to represent the devil.  She mostly orders the girls to do things for the viewer and generally torments them before the guys are brought out.  Also, in most of the sex scenes, the guys wear animal masks at least part of the time.  I'm not sure why, but I do know that Greg Dark is fond of creating this type of weird sexual imagery.  Personally, I don't believe animal masks add anything to a porn flick.  Maybe it is meant to add an (additional) element of degradation to the scenes.

DVD SPECIFIC COMMENTS

I was pleased with the digital remaster of this film by Nu Tech.  The picture clarity and color are very good.  The sound was excellent.  It is a big improvement over the VHS version.  I experienced no technical problems playing this DVD.  The sound is now in Dolby surround, and this greatly enhances the dialog and the soundtrack.  

"Shocking Truth 2" is divided into six chapters that can be selected from the main menu.  Bonuses include about 25 or so still photos, short star biographies, information about the Nu Tech website, and some trailers for other (non Greg Dark) releases.  The box cover is attractive and the disc itself is silk screened with the starlets from the two hottest scenes in the movie -- Deliah and Brooke.  I would have like to seen some behind the scenes bonus material and commentary by the director and/or the starlets.  

The cost of the is DVD is very reasonable.  I paid only $12.49 on an eBay auction last month.  A price search of multiple web retailers reveals it can be obtained for as low as ten dollars at the time of this review.  The range is from $10.00 to $26.90.  

CONCLUSION

I recall that I enjoyed this movie when it was originally released on VHS several years ago.  Today it remains a very creative, tightly directed feature with high production values.  Furthermore, the sex is extremely hot, nasty and unusually intense.  At times, I wish that some of the specific acts in the sex sequences would last longer.  However, considering the long running time of the film (over two hours), maybe this was not possible.  I'm aware that tough editing choices must be made in any movie.  Unlike many porn features, the music in this one is used effectively.  

This is one adult movie that has stood the test of time and an essential addition to an adult dvd collection.
