REVIEW

Bukkake is something new to American porn that is borrowed from Japan.  In Japanese, "Bukkake" means "splash", as in splashes of cum.  The proper pronunciation is "boo-cock-e".  A "Bukkake girl" is a girl who lets a whole bunch of guys jack off on her face one after another until her whole face is glazed over in cum.  I read somewhere that a long time ago, this was a punishment in Japan for a wife that committed adultery.  The idea was to publicly humiliate the wife for her indiscretions by forcing her to become a Bukkake girl in the town square.  Her male neighbors would be the participants in the ritual.  

That was the past.  Today, Bukkake is alive and well, but it is no longer a punishment, rather it has morphed into a form of entertainment for raincoaters!  Until recently, it appears that only Japanese adult producers marketed Bukkake movies, but last year J.M. Productions brought it to the United States for the first time.  The new series would be called "American Bukkake" and from the looks of things, it is quite successful.  At the time this review was written, the series was already nine titles strong, although only volumes one and two are currently available on DVD.  This review takes a look at the first episode in the series.

SCENE ONE - "The Bunny"

Productions.   There are white guys, blacks guys, and some Asian guys in the audience.  Their appearances varied widely, but most did not look like doctors and lawyers.  I'm sorry to say that many had the ex convict look.  Anyway, as they watch Bobbi, some of them stroke their cocks.  All the guys are sitting in Indian cross legged style without a lot of squirming.  Most have a stone face, but a few exhibit a little smile, but it looked sort of creepy.  At this point, the girl is lying on her back with her legs spread wide.

Mikayla is also wandering around in the same warehouse that Brooke did earlier.  She is wearing a young girls dress, knee high socks and white, tennis shoes.  She skips over to a platform and hops up on it.  She has a big, colorful sucker with her.  Mikayla is wearing glasses.  However, the young girl effect is diminished by her pierced tongue and a stud in her nose.  Mikaya sits on the bench and proceeds to lick her lollypop.  Unfortunately, as she sucks the lollypop, it turns her tongue green and I thought she looked like her tongue had an infection or there was moss growing on it.  Yuk!  Also, her knees had unattractive scabs on them and a tattoo on her right shoulder.

The camera angle switches to above and shows the Bukkake boys in the audience.  It appears to be the same bunch of guys as in the previous scenes.  Again there are about twenty-five or thirty of them.  From this angle, Mikayla's legs look very skinny.  The camera then spends some time roaming around the guys in the audience.  Again, I think this should be edited out completely.  Then, the three claps are heard, and the featured action begins.  Mikayla stands up.  Some stage help brings her a blanket and sets down a moving pad and protective plastic sheets.  She sits up on her knees and she gets a sucker again which she holds under her chin.  Then Mikaya tilts her head back, opens her mouth, and sticks her tongue out.  She keeps her glasses on.

The DVD contains a bonus "Behind the Scenes" mini feature with a running time of about eight minutes.  Here's what you get:  a mini interview with Brooke and some scenes showing her getting ready; the director explaining  the bukkake process to the guys and giving them directions (he tells them to sit stone faced and just look at the girl without wiggling around), and some brief shots of Brooke and Mikayla after their scenes were over.

The featurette was very amusing to me.  In fact, only complaint is that it was too short!  I always enjoy these kind of bonuses and hope that more discs include them in the future.

DVD SPECIFIC COMMENTS

I was pleased with the technical quality of American Bukkake.  Overall, I would rate it good.  The picture was clear with good color balance and resolution.  The sound was also good, but this film is hardly a showcase for audio.  Most of the time, the scenes were close to silent (including the performers).  I experienced no technical problems viewing this disc on my Sanyo DVD  or my Sony DVD player.  

The viewer has the ability to jump to any of the three scenes from the Main Menu.  The DVD also contains biographies, web site information, and about 19 high quality photo stills in the "Gallery".  It was difficult to move back and forth in the photo gallery.  The biographies were contained minimum information about the starlets.  Besides their vital stats, the information in the biography is tongue in cheek.  Also, the "filmography" for each starlet is bogus, only listing other  J.M. releases the actress has appeared in.  As mentioned above, there is a "behind the scenes" featurette.  Finally, there's a screen with J.M. Productions mail order information.  The actual disc surface has a grayscale graphic of Bobbi printed on the top side.

At the time this review was written, the cost of the is DVD varied wildly.  The lowest price it was available for was $12.99 and the highest price list was $24.95.  The average price for American Bukkake based on ten web retailers was $21.06.

CONCLUSION

American Bukkake is an original.  I suspect that most people will either love it or hate it.  Obviously, it a niche product that will appeal to a select group of raincoaters.   The precise appeal of the disc is difficult to put your finger on.  Even the producers seem to acknowledge this fact.  They say this disc is "like a train wreck, you just have to watch it."  They also call it "outrageous" and "disturbing".  

In other words American Bukkake is not sexy or erotic in a traditional way, even for jaded porn viewers.  Besides the guys jacking off, the only real sex in the movie are the solo masturbation scenes that serve as a warm up.  I bet that many Bukkake fans will fast forward past them entirely, unless they are interested in that particular starlet.  There's no interaction between the guy and girl, except for her to sit there passively and take load after load of cum on her face.  In that sense, this film can be distinguished even from Rodney Moore type flicks that emphasize gooey cum shots to the face because there is no blow job leading up to it. 

So, why do some viewers find this a turn on?  I think it boils down to degradation and humiliation of the starlet.  A lot of women don't appreciate a guy blowing his nuts in her face.  Everyone knows that "forbidden" acts become more appealing so right away this is something that a lot of guys probably fantasize about.  A bukkake film such as this one just amplifies the act by repeating it over and over again, much like a gang bang video.  The girl is not only a slut who lets a guy cum on her face, she lets 30 guys do it, one after another.  She's the perfect submissive whore.  This is not to say that these girls are explicitly humiliated in the sense that the guys insult them or otherwise treat them bad.  In fact, the performers here took the onslaught of cum shots like it was the most natural thing in the world.  The degradation and humiliation is in the idea that a girl would do this sort of thing at all.  As the box cover says, "How many cum shots can one whore take?"  I know that some of you want to find out.

05.29.02  Bad news!  As I write this, all the American Bukkake titles appear to be discontinued.  I suspect this is due to some recent legal hassles over them.  Grab them while you still can!
