This feature was the first in what has turned out to be quite a successful line for J.M. Productions.  At the time of this review, the Guttermouths series had nineteen episodes and was still going strong.  However, only the first two are available on DVD so far.

DVD SPECIFIC COMMENTS

Technically, this disc surprisingly good.   The photography is excellent and everything is well illuminated.  The clarity is outstanding, especially for an video nearly five years old.  All features on the disc worked as expected on my Sony DVD player (model 560). 

As far as extras go, this disc is pretty bare bones.  From the main menu, there are four choices:  Play Movie, Chapters, Biographies, and Photo Gallery.  The Chapters allow you to jump to the beginning of any of the four scenes and mini previews are shown to help you make your selection.  The "Biographies" are weak.  Each biography is one page and consists of a few vital statistics such as astrological sign, eye color and birth date (with no year).  I say, put some effort into the biography or don't include one at all.  There's a videography listing, but it only includes other J.M. features the girls have performed in.  As a result, one girl only had one other title listed.  As such it is best thought of as a promotional tool for the producer.  The photo gallery contains about eighteen stills taken from the movie.  Most shots are full screen, but a few display two to a page.  Unlike some J.M. discs, I was disappointed that this one did not contain a behind a scenes bonus clip.  Behind the scenes clips are always welcome and should be included on the DVD version whenever footage is available.

CONCLUSION

The first installment of Gutter Mouths is enjoyable.  It's nasty but not gross.  Also, it has some humorous parts and doesn't seem to take itself too seriously.  The producers couldn't have picked a better person than Brooke Ashley to kick off this line and she's the best thing about this movie.  The final scene ranks among Brooke's best.
