Synopsis
Meet Bunko. She's an extremely cute, young Japanese girl who wants to get to know you better. Spend the day with her and let her show you some of the things she likes to do for fun.
This feature is a softcore, Japanese disc which features lots of glamour posing and tease. There's some brief moments of nudity, but nothing harder.
What's Hot
In Japan Bunko is very popular. It's easy to see her appeal after viewing this disc. Beyond her friendly personality and obvious beauty, Bunko projects an strong aura of innocence and vulnerability. At the same time, she is very sexy and consciously teases the viewer over and over again. This contrast created a strange tension for me.
Bunko is presented in a variety of outfits and settings. After a while it become apparent that Bunko would be alluring no matter what she was doing and what she is wearing. For instance, she looked particularly hot in purple shorts rolling around on a ping pong table -- an unlikely setting. Other memorable sequences include a scene where Bunko is wearing a slight nightgown on a staircase, and a hot spa.
I enjoyed the way this feature was presented in the sense that it is shot from the point of view of a close friend tagging along with Bunko. At times Bunko appears to talk to the viewer and involve them in whatever is happening. For instance, she cooks a BBQ and then offers it to the viewer. In another sequence she plays hide and seek. During these moments, it is as if you are on a date with this Japanese hotty.
Bunko reveals her petite breasts and slender ass at the end of some sequences. Sometimes she appears nude. When she does flash her sexy little body, it is always done in a tasteful manner. In fact, she seems to purposely project that she is a little hesitant almost every time. It is as if Bunko is torn between being an innocent little girl, and a full fledged woman with sexual desire.
What's Not
The disc should have English subtitles. Given that the whole idea of this program is centered around getting to know Bunko better, the inability to understand what she is saying is a serious omission.
The lack of subtitles is consistent with other attempts to cut corners with the dvd mastering. There are no extras to speak of, and the main menu only has two options, "play" and "select chapters." Even the chapter select feature is cheap -- there's no visual reminder of chapter content like most discs. I also noticed time counter problems when I played this disc. The running total time counter and time countdown did not work properly.
I noticed some video flaws at times that appear traceable to the source tape.
Everything Else
There are seven chapters in all and the total running time is between thirty minutes and an hour. Other than the minor video flaws noted above, the video and audio on this disc was generally good. I didn't notice any artifacts. At times the picture was slightly grainy.
Last Word
I enjoyed Bunko Kanazawa: Japan AV Girl Of Y2K more than I expected I would. The disc held my attention even though sexually nothing much happens except Bunko posing for the camera and teasing the viewer. She's fun to watch if you enjoy Asian girls. I only wish I could have understood what she was saying. This disc would have earned a "B" but for the lack of subtitles and the absence of other DVD features.
