Swift Picks is a cleverly titled featured that was shaped by the creative juices of popular starlet Stephanie Swift, who currently is a contract girl for Wicked Pictures.  The idea was to let Stephanie pick the cast and give her creative input into the scenes.  Stephanie says that she picked a mixture of personal favorites and new people.  According to Ms. Swift, each scene has a special meaning to her.  

SCENE ONE 
Sylvia Saint and one guy (Mr. Marcus), Stephanie Swift in non-sex appearance

The first scene opens with Stephanie and Silvia Saint  outdoors on a very hot day.  Both girls look babelicious.  Stephanie has on a white half top and half shorts and Silvia has on a white top, jean shorts, tennis shoes and glasses.  There are some tease shots which take place near some heavy equipment with a pretty cool modern music soundtrack.  The video quality is very good.  Mr. Marcus appears and Stephanie offers some direction to the performers.  Then the sex begins.

Again, this scene was OK, but I just feel it could have been hotter.  Stephanie was underused and although Lexi seemed perfectly willing to be nasty, as soon as the scene started going in that direction, the reins were pulled back so that no one was offended.  It's another couples scene, that flirts with raincoat material.

SCENE THREE

DVD SPECIFIC COMMENTS

The layout of Swift Picks is simple and functional.  Viewers are presented with three main choices, scene selection, play movie and "audio selection".  Viewers can jump directly to any of the six scenes on the disc.  I wasn't sure what "audio selection" was going to before I looked at it.  My guess was it would have something to do with DTS 5.1 surround sound.  That would have been cool, but what it actually is was even better.  

Turns out, the audio selection permits viewers to turn on audio commentary by director Mark Stone and Stephanie Swift!  Although this is quite common for mainstream Hollywood discs, this is the first porn release I've seen with the feature.  I thoroughly enjoyed listening to commentary track.  Of course, it helps to keep in mind that this is not Ridley Scott talking about the making of Gladiator, it's a very modest adult film.  

During the commentary, most of the time Stephanie and Mark talk about how the scenes were put together, share entertaining little stories and comment on the performances.  Sometimes this is helpful to explain the scene.  As an example, in the first scene, where Steph sits out on the action and simply watches, she explains how she was trying to depict the ultimate tease for herself.  Quite honestly, I didn't get it when I watched the scene the first time.  Stephanie also talks quite a bit about her background and reveals some personal things about herself.  For instance, she talks about her first sexual experience, her sexual preferences and even touches on some controversial porn subjects like interracial sex.  The commentary is not without it's warts though.  At one point Ms. Swift decides to take a telephone call on her cell phone.  Uh guys, next time use the "pause" button on the TV and tape recorder.  

Technical quality of this disc was excellent.  The clarity of the picture quality as well as lighting and color balance was very good.  Sound quality was fine as well.  All features on this disc worked exactly as they should on my standalone Sony DVD player (560-D).  Very nice job on the disc mastering by Wicked.  

CONCLUSION

If you're a fan of Stephanie Swift, this disc is essential.  Not so much because of the sex scenes, but for the commentary.  For me, it was the best part of the DVD.  I'm always curious about what porn stars are really like, and this disc gives fans an intimate glimpse of Stephanie the person.  Director Stone's commentary is interesting too, but he's not as cute.  :-)  The sexual content here is mostly vanilla and strangely detached.  This is true even with superstars like Sylvia Saint and Stephanie.  Nothing in Swift Picks is gonna shock ya, and there's nothing here you haven't seen before.  Again, high marks for the presentation and quality of this disc.
