Synopsis

According to Constance Le, Production Manager at DVSX, the literal translation of "Sakura" is "cherry blossom", the unofficial flower of Japan.  At some point, a clever lad also coined the term to describe Japanese schoolgirls.  Hence, the title of this new wall to wall series from DVSX.  It's not exclusively Japanese, in fact, I don't even think any of the girls are of Japanese origin, but it does feature all Asian girls. 

What's Hot

An excellent cast was assembled here, especially for fans of Asian babes.  Most of the girls are relatively new, although Mika and Loni may be familiar.  All are attractive, although perhaps not super model material. 

In each scene, Alex Ladd captures the action from a variety of thoughtful angles and melds them together skillfully.  The action changes rapidly, so viewers have little chance to become bored.  Tight editing throughout.  As in Double Parked, Alex and the team succeed in presenting the girls in a very flattering way.  In an age where porn is overflowing with skanky looking starlets, this is no small feat. 

Good concept and scene format.   The set ups and opening tease sequences with Loni and Mika were silly and familiar, but still fun.  Mika Tan may have some acting ability.  However, see notes below under "What's Not".

Very good audio/visual quality in every scene.

Stylish open credits with excellent identification of the starlets, but I noticed some travel scenes from Europe.  A minor point, but wouldn't scenes from Asia be more appropriate?

Attractive cover art with truthful copy.  Also, nice silkscreen design on the dvd disc itself.  Good dvd case.

What's Not

The downside of fast paced scenes with lots of variety is that each sex act is only shown briefly.  At times, I felt like the scenes were a little on the frantic side.  I believe Ladd is trying to squeeze a lot of different acts and positions into each scene, and present six full scenes at the same time.  It's just not possible to do this leisurely within 112 minutes.  This may be why some features clock in at 2:20 or only include four or five scenes.

I liked the "Sakura Tales" concept here, but other than the scenes featuring Loni and Mika, the "tales" part of this feature is given lip service.  The other girls just have a totally generic fantasy of getting screwed with a big cock.

A few anal gripes.  I was a little disappointed that neither Loni or Mika perform anal.  Both of these starlets regularly appear in scenes featuring nasty, backdoor sex.  Missed opportunity for a nearly all anal feature (I don't think Kianna does it at this time).  As it is, half of the scenes have anal in it.  Also, I would have liked to seen more positions in the scenes with anal sex.  A couple of them girls perform anal, and the footage was fine, but they only do it in one position for a relatively short amount of time.   

At times, it seemed like some of the moaning was dubbed in after the scene was shot.  I noticed it several times during Kianna's scene when her mouth didn't seem to match the vocal track. 

Play By Play

Below is a detailed description of each scene:

Other extras features include a photo gallery, hot shots (cum shot recap) and "solo scenes" for each of the girls.  Each solo scene is about two or three minutes long, consisting of extra footage taken from the introduction portion of each starlet's scene.  This is a nice bonus.  The photo gallery are true stills taken from the set.  Some are presented two at a time in split screen fashion.  Some of these can be viewed on DVSX's web site.

Last Word

"Sakura Tales" is a very good way to kick off a new series.  This disc is highly recommended to fans of Asian porno hotties.  Sexually the content walks middle ground between couples oriented and raincoaters, perhaps in an effort for wide appeal.  There are three anal scenes, but nothing too extreme is shown.  All the girls look good and turn in good performances.  All this is wrapped up in a high quality AV package.  I'm looking forward to part two!

bono-ONE on ADT rated this movie 4 1/2 stars out of 5.  He says "Alex Ladd filmed a very good and varied titled with hot babes doing all the right things to get us off." 

Evil_Rip on ADT was a bit less impressed and said some of the girls "pushed it too far with their constant moaning" and implied some were not believable.  He said the girls range from average to "hot hot hot."  Rating 4 stars.

Goldmember on ADT was a tougher sell.  He rated Sakura Tales 3 1/2 stars.  He says he was "impressed" but would have liked to seen a "better looking cast on the whole."
