Synopsis

Paul Thomas brings his XXX adult version of the classic Grimm Brother's fairy tale to your living room.  Dale DeBone stars as Hansel and Vivid contract girl Dayton stars as his sister Gretel.  Sharon Wild is the stepmother who dislikes her new stepson and the evil witch is played by nasty Latina Meriesa.  Gwen Summers as "Mother Goose" narrates in a non-sex role.  Since I imagine most of you are at least somewhat familiar with the fairy tale, I'm not going to describe the story here, but in case you are not, I've provided a link to the story at the end of the review.

What's Hot

Authentic looking period sets and clothing are used. Thankfully, Vivid does not opt to modernize the tale other than a few amusing modern references.  Also, appropriate classical music is used during the scenes. 

Multiple angles pop up at various times during the sex scenes and let the viewer choose between three different camera angles.  I think this is a great feature, but in the event you find it annoying, the feature can be turned off under the "Set Up" menu. 

Lots of nice extras on the DVD version of this feature including a four full bonus scenes, an eighteen  minute "behind the scenes" featurette taken from "Hansel & Gretel" and previews of other Vivid features.     

Good production values. 

What's Not

The sex is hardcore, but extremely tame by today's standards.  This disc is a model for making porn as inoffensive as possible.  I'm not sure why the sex needs to be so sanitized on the DVD version except that producers feel the target audience for adult fairy tale adaptations are not interested in things like anal, dps, and even facials. 

The feature itself is short, only 74 minutes.  However this is mitigated by Vivid's inclusion of four bonus scenes (unrelated to the movie).

Play By Play

Below is a brief description of each scene:

Vivid includes a couple of "bonus rooms" on this disc with extra sex scenes.  One is called "More Dayton" and the other is called "Vivid Girls Get Fucked".  "More Dayton" contains boy/girl scenes with Dayton from "Delirium" and "Believe It Or Not #01".  "Vivid Girls Get Fucked" contains two additional boy/girl  scenes:  Cheyenne Silver in a scene lifted from "Extreme Close Up Cheyenne" and  Kira Kener in a scene from "Breathe".

Four previews of other Vivid features are included:  "Jumping Track", "Girl Next Door", "Haunted" and "Busted".

Last Word

This is an impressive adaptation of the enduring fairy tale for adult audiences.  It was more entertaining than I imagined it would be.  The script was decent and the performers did a good job with the material.  I wouldn't have minded a longer, more developed story and expanded sex scenes with more daring content.  "Hansel & Gretel" is  very well suited as a gentle introduction to porn for couples or others who do not wish to see "extreme" or "raincoater" content.  It is also a good choice for Dayton fans as she is featured in a total of five scenes.
